Stop Sinclair
From Networked Advocacy
The StopSinclair.org campaign rallied against the Sinclair Broadcast Group in the fall of 2004, upset by the outlet's efforts to air "Stolen Honor," an hour-long program challenging the character of then-presidential nominee John Kerry.
The campaign provided supporters with the opportunity and tools to sign a petition, contact their local Sinclair affiliate, and contact advertisers buying air time on those affiliates. It put power in the hands of individuals.
"During the 2004 StopSinclair campaign, 152,407 people signed the online petition, 3595 people pitched in money to pay for targeted print and TV ads in Ohio and Nevada, and hundreds more came to rallies. Together, we Stopped Sinclair," the campaign's [1] states.
