Building Social Ties
From Networked Advocacy
- Icebreaker games
- Gather and share profiles of network members. Post photos on an internal website or message board.
- Circulate stories and experiences from network members in network materials and communication - listserv, website, etc.
- Social events. Remember, social time during meetings is critical.
- Mentoring, especially between staff of varying seniority, function and history with the network
- Job swaps
- Training/skill sharing events
- Connect online and offline activities. Communities usually need some face to face time.
- Staff or cause "facebook" or "alumni association" equivalents - with supporting meetings, directories, etc. Use existing social networking sites - Facebook, MySpace etc. - or build your own.
